Favourite Short Story

From the beginning of the school year, we have to read the equivalent of 10 pages of short storie(s) every week.

During these 4 month, I only read Tales Of The Unexpected by Roald Dahl, the autor of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (I have read the book and seen the remake movie, and both were, and still are, really good and they take a huge place in my childhood memories)

In these novels, the author often do twist with the plot and only reveal the truth in the last sentence.

Like in Lamb to the Slaughter -my favorite story- Mary Maloney, a common woman, killed her common husband, Patrick, for practically no reason : he came back from work and didn't wanted to have dinner. Mary acted as usual and picked a freezed Leg of Lamb (meat) in the basement, came back in the kitchen, walked behind her husband and HIT HIM SO HARD ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD THAT HE DIED IN THE INSTANT AND SHE JUST SAID "Alright, so I've killed him !" LIKE IT WAS NOTHING, LIKE SHE HAD ALREADY KILLED SOMEONE ELSE, THIS WOMAN IS PURE EVIL (I didn't except that at all, I screamed while giggling and it sounded like a chicken).

But it's not finished because then, SHE called the police and while they where invastigating, she asked them if they wanted to eat, more precisely The Leg of Lamb.

Naturally, they first refused but with some arguments like "You must be terribly hungry by now because it's long past your supper time, and I know Patrick would never forgive me, [...] without offering you decent hopitality." they accepted to eat it.

YES THE ONLY PIECE OF EVIDENCE OF THE MURDER OF PATRICK MALONEY

While having dinner, they thinked about who the murderer could be, while Mary began to laugh in the other room.
